No cheap watches at Silverstone auction

There were no cut price watches among the expensive wares put up for sale at an auction over the weekend.

The Autosport blog detailed a sale which took place at the official British Grand Prix party last week and noted that an auction put on by Bernie Ecclestone featured a number of high value items. Expensive watches were among the items flogged, as was a BMW Sauber car.

The auction was held to raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital's brand new heart and lung specialist centre and was part of a party held at London's Natural History Museum to celebrate everything Formula One.

Celebrities attending the event included pop group the Sugababes and Princess Beatrice and while an expensive watch may not be out of the price range of such people, cheap watches that look just as great are also available.

The Silverstone race, which took place last Sunday (July 11th) was eventually won by Mark Webber. British racers Lewis Hamilton and Jensen Button came second and fourth respectively.
